1. bit (n) a part of sth larger miếng; mảnh; mẩu; phần

Ex: The best bit of the holiday was seeing the Grand Canyon.

(Phần thú vị nhất của kỳ nghỉ là tham quan Grand Canyon.)

2. chew (v) to bite food into small pieces in your mouth with your teeth to make it easier to swallow nhai

=> chew (n) sự nhai

3. digest (v) to think about sth so that you fully understand it hiểu thấu; lĩnh hội; tiêu hóa

Ex: The lecture was interesting, but too much to digest all at once.

(Bài nói chuyện rất thú vị, nhưng có quá nhiều điều cần phải lĩnh hội cùng một lúc.)

=> digestible (adj) tiêu hóa được; dễ tiêu

=> digestion (n) sự tiêu hóa; khả năng tiêu hóa

4. dip into (phr v): to read or watch only parts of sth xem lướt qua

Ex: I have only had time to dip into the report.

(Tôi chỉ có đủ thời gian xem lướt qua báo cáo.)

5. distinct (adj) (~ from sth): clearly different or of a different kind riêng; riêng biệt, khác biệt

Ex: The results of the survey fell into two distinct groups.

(Kết quả cuộc khảo sát chia thành hai nhóm khác hẳn nhau.)

=> distinctness (n) sự khác biệt

6. here and there: in various places đó đây; khắp nơi

Ex: Papers were scattered here and there on the floor.

(Giấy tờ năm vưong vãi khắp nơi trên sàn.)

7. in a word: used for giving a very short, usually negative, answer or comment một cách vắn tắt; nói tóm lại

8. knit (v) to make clothes, etc. from wool or cotton thread using two long thin knitting needles or a machine đan

9. make it: succeed in reaching a place đến nơi

Ex: I don't think we'll make it before dark.

10. pick up (phr v): to lift sth or sb up, especially with your hands cầm lên; nhặt lên

Ex: Maurin picked up the gun and put it in her pocket.

11. plot (n) the series of events which form the story of a novel, play, film/ movie, etc. cốt chuyện

12. reunite (v) (usu. passive): to bring two or more people together again after they have been separated for a long time; to come together again đoàn tụ

 13. swallow (v) to make food, drink, etc. go down your throat into your stomach nuốt
